Park Slope Woodland Garden
Designer: Linda Albert
A Layered Shade Garden Revival
Our client wanted to reclaim an overgrown and neglected backyard while creating a peaceful, woodland-inspired garden that would thrive in the property's shaded conditions. The design centered on Oakleaf Hydrangeas chosen to reflect the client's aesthetic preferences, complemented by carefully selected shade-loving plants that provide texture, seasonal interest, and a naturalistic feel. Existing ivy was rejuvenated and retrained to soften fences and walkways, while tree removal, lawn restoration, sod installation, and overseeding brought new life to the landscape. Finishing touches—including mulching, fertilization, and thorough watering—ensured the garden was set up for long-term health and beauty.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT
Professional Sod Application
Our team transformed this backyard by removing existing trees and debris, thoroughly clearing and tilling the site to create a healthy foundation for new growth. The yard was then carefully prepared for sod installation and overseeded to promote long-term density and resilience, even in areas with limited sunlight. To ensure the landscape's continued success, we also provided detailed care and maintenance instructions, helping the newly established lawn thrive well beyond installation.
