A Natural Woodland Retreat
This design transforms an overgrown, neglected backyard into a serene, woodland-inspired sanctuary tailored to the property’s deep shade. A curated palette of shade-loving plants introduces rich textures and dynamic seasonal interest. Particular attention was given to the raised garden bed incline to help stabilize the slope, prevent soil erosion, and manage water runoff.
To balance privacy with modern functionality, the mature ivy was heavily pruned and secured to soften the fence lines while maintaining clear, open walkways. Existing underplantings were removed for the refreshed design, to create a clean foundation, and to ensure the garden is set up for long-term health and beauty.

Professional Sod Application
Our team transformed this backyard by removing existing trees, shrubs and debris, thoroughly clearing and tilling the site to create a healthy foundation for new growth. This process also included the unexpected discovery and removal of an underground planting bed lined with bricks that the homeowners were unaware of, common in Brooklyn yards. Our crew then proceeded with the sod installation and overseeded to promote long-term density and resilience, even in areas with limited sunlight. To ensure the landscape's continued success, we provided detailed care and maintenance instructions, helping the newly established garden and lawn thrive well beyond installation.
