Epimedium Sulphureum (Barrenwort, Fairy Wings)
A tried-and-true variety of barrenwort, Epimedium x versicolor 'Sulphureum' is a beautiful and reliable groundcover for shade gardens. It spreads to form colonies of dense foliage and is great for creating an understory in wooded areas and other dry shade situations where few ground covers thrive.
Epimedium 'Sulphureum' barrenwort blooms with spikes of butter-yellow flowers in early spring. Not long after, the foliage becomes mottled with attractive red patterns.
Try Epimedium 'Sulphureum' in your shaded border, along the edges of a forest path, or in shady locations.
