Queen of Night is one of the most iconic Single Late tulips, introduced in the 1940s. Famed for its 4 to 5 inch deep maroon-purple blooms that appear almost black in certain light—earning it the nickname “the black tulip.” The flowers are cup-shaped, velvety in texture, and held on tall, elegant stems reaching 24 to 26 inches. Full sun encourages strong stems and rich color. While light shade is tolerated, consistent sun enhances bloom longevity and form.
