Picea orientalis 'Atrovirens' (Oriental Spruce)
Resilient with exceptionally dark green, glossy needles and dense, semi-pendulous branching that extends gracefully from the ground up. One of the last spruces to break bud in spring, it offers a fresh burst of color later in the season. In spring, showy female cones emerge with a soft purplish hue, maturing to warm brown through summer and fall. With yearly pruning, it can be kept as medium-sized evergreen specimen.
Now 24–36" in a #3 grower’s pot, it puts on 5–8" of growth per year when planted in full sun.
