Bay Laurel is an evergreen perennial herb. Excellent seasoning for soups, stews, and stocks and the leaves may be harvested and used fresh or dried for culinary purposes.
Bay Laurel has been used in alternative folk remedies for treating rashes caused by poison ivy, poison oak, and stinging nettle. In massage therapy, essential oils of Bay Laurel is used to treat arthritis, and in aromatherapy to treat earaches and high blood pressure.
