Chelsea Garden Center's President David Protell received one of twelve Small Business Awards given by Manhattan Media at an awards luncheon sponsored by Commerce Bank, Score Counselors to America's small business, The Franklin Report and Tri Net Total HR Services. Tim Zagat hosted the awards luncheon at Compass restaurant on west 70th street. Chelsea was nominated by the Media Groups readers for its quality customer service and contributions to their respective communities. Protell is an advocate of many non-profit organizations including the Friend's of the Highline, Bette Midler's New York Restoration Project, the Council on the Environment of New York City and the Green Guerillas. Chelsea regularly donates plants to these charities and hosts events on their behalf.
